Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine In Clinic
At your first appointment I attain a complete picture of your current health status by taking a detailed account of your symptoms, medical and family history, traumas. Some of the questions about body functions are a little surprising for some, but all the information is relevant to make an accurate differential diagnosis in TCM terms. Next I inspect your tongue for information of its shape, colour, size & coating. Pulse diagnosis which is taken on both wrists indicates how well internal organs are functioning, I feel for shape, size, volume and quality of the pulse. I may check the temperature of your skin and palpate (touch) problematic areas.
With this information I am able to determine a complete picture of your health and formulate a differential diagnosis and a treatment plan. This is focused on individual health goals and treatment to rebalance Yin and Yang energies, qi and blood flow. Treatment often includes a combination of Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Tui Na (massage), Moxabustion, Cupping, Dietary Advice, Stress Management and Exercise suitable to the individual.
Based on your differentiated diagnosis acupuncture points are selected. Treatment is administered, herbs may be given for you to take at home to assist in the balancing process. Initial consultations take 2 hours as a lot of information is given, acupuncture treatment is included in the initial consult. In clinic you are treated as a whole person, the signs and symptoms you have are addressed along with the root causes for long term sustained results
